Worldwide Quilting Day

As part of Worldwide Quilting Day one of our favourite local shops, Threads That Bind in Maxwell, is participating with a special offer on Hobbs heirloom premium batting, among other specials and events to be held at the store on March 16th:

There is also a “Strip Quilt Challenge” starting on March 16th.  A sample picture of the quilt and instructions are at:
http://worldwidequiltingday.com/2013/03/12/mark-set-quilt/  Most of the participating shops are in the US, so unless you’re in Ottawa that weekend, there isn’t really a venue for us to join a Jelly Roll Race.  But you could still participate “remotely” if you like!

Here is a link to a video that shows this very quick and easy method of making a quilt top from 2 1/2″ strips:

Detailed instructions for the “jelly roll race” are also available at:

This could be a great way to use up some of your scraps and throw a quilt together for our community quilts stash!

Check it out and enjoy.

The gardens will be calling us outdoors before we know it, so now’s the time to wrap up some of those UFO’s!
Happy quilting.
